Requirements for defoamers in paint production

1. It has certain affinity with the active substance on the surface of foam, but it should be insoluble and insoluble in the bubble liquid;

2. The surface tension is lower than that of bubble liquid, and has a lower HLB value;

3. The lotion (emulsion) shall be stable;

4. After the coating film is formed, it shall not cause the adverse consequences of fish eye and shrinkage hole;

5. Defoaming agent for water-based coatings: use substances insoluble in water, such as mineral oil, higher alcohols, and silicone resin. Silicone is the best defoaming agent for water-based coatings.

Defoaming agent for non-aqueous coatings: commonly used substances that are difficult to be dissolved in organic solvents, such as low-grade alcohol and organosilicon resin (the amount of organosilicon resin should be appropriate, and excessive amount of organosilicon resin is easy to crack and sink, and now modified or emulsified organosilicon resin is mostly used)

Organosilicon defoamer recommended for waterborne coatings

1. Silicone oil and hydrophobic SiO2 mixture applicable: epoxy resin, pouring coating, dosage 0.3%; Thermoplastic acrylic resin, spraying, dosage 0.3%

2. Application of polyether polysiloxane and hydrophobic SiO2 mixture: thermosetting alkyd resin, dip coating dosage 0.3%, scraping coating dosage 0.1%

3. The mixture of hydrophobic SiO2, hydrocarbon and silicone oil is applicable to: thermoplastic acrylic resin, printing, printing ink, dosage 0.1%; Air-drying acrylic resin, pouring coating, dosage 0.5%.

4. Silicone oil and hydrophobic SiO2 mixture lotion Applicable: alkyd modified styrene acrylic resin, pouring coating, dosage 0.5%

Detergent
Polysiloxane and modified sodium tripolyphosphate are used as powder detergent additives. Dimethyl silicone oil (1500c. s) lotion containing 2~6% SiO2 is mixed with anhydrous sodium tripolyphosphate. The amount of lotion is 10~40%, forming hydrates as additives.

Metal cleaning fluid is required to be alkali resistant. It is best to add liquid products with transparent and antifoaming activity.
